THE IMPORTANCE OF A GOOD EDUCATION Posted by elis Sunday, 2007-July-01 One of the most important things to look for in a hairstylist is their continued level of education. It does not matter if a stylist has 1 year or 25 years of experience. Everything changes in this industry at a very rapid rate. New products are constantly introduced, new techniques and methods as well as styles always changing. Every year I spend at least $500 to $3000.00 on my education. That is just for the classes. Finding the right class to continue my growth is worth the effort. In March of this year, I decided to hone my skills as an color expert. It was a challenge to find a class that could teach me new material. Carla Mathis of Body Beautiful had the answer. She is one of seven certified Image Masters in the world. She has worked in the industry since before the 80’s and has evolved into a brilliant educator. This class looked at the client as a whole, not just a head. It provided the skill to help my clients find and understand their own personal style and coloring. In addition to certifying me as a Body Beautiful Image Consultant, it also encouraged seeing clients in a new way. If you have difficulty when you shop for clothing or don’t understand how your body shape and coloring can best work for you, then you should get a consultation.
