Better Color! Posted by elis Sunday, 2009-February-01 Would you perm your hair every 4-6 weeks? Did you know that pulling permanent alkaline color through the ends of already-tinted hair, even for only 5 minutes, is swelling the cuticle like a perm would? This is unecessary as Goldwell makes a glaze that will freshen any color without the extra damage of permanent color.
Color Glazing with Goldwell's Colorance will eliminate this excess swelling to your hair. Only using Topchic (Goldwell's permanent alkaline hair color) on the new growth and then applying the matching and conditioning Colorance shade on the mid-shaft to ends will make hair healthier and add more shine.

BOOKING APPOINTMENTS Posted by elis Sunday, 2008-June-01 Many clients are concerned about disturbing me when they call. Let me reassure you that I am never disturbed. I turn my phone off and let it go to voice mail if I do not wish to answer it. Cell phones can be a saving grace or a demise depending on how they are treated. It works out well that my assistant and I can personally take care of my clients. There is no need for misunderstandings at the front desk and if last minute changes need to be made, it is easy. If it is my day off, lunch break or I am busy, I will let the phone go to voice mail. As soon as possible, my client will receive a call back. Anytime of the day or night my phone is accessible. Just leave a message. I apologize for the occasional disconnection or breaking up in conversation. I know this is annoying. While having a cell phone is great it is not perfect.
THE IMPORTANCE OF A GOOD EDUCATION Posted by elis Sunday, 2007-July-01 One of the most important things to look for in a hairstylist is their continued level of education. It does not matter if a stylist has 1 year or 25 years of experience. Everything changes in this industry at a very rapid rate. New products are constantly introduced, new techniques and methods as well as styles always changing. Every year I spend at least $500 to $3000.00 on my education. That is just for the classes. Finding the right class to continue my growth is worth the effort. In March of this year, I decided to hone my skills as an color expert. It was a challenge to find a class that could teach me new material. Carla Mathis of Body Beautiful had the answer. She is one of seven certified Image Masters in the world. She has worked in the industry since before the 80’s and has evolved into a brilliant educator. This class looked at the client as a whole, not just a head. It provided the skill to help my clients find and understand their own personal style and coloring. In addition to certifying me as a Body Beautiful Image Consultant, it also encouraged seeing clients in a new way. If you have difficulty when you shop for clothing or don’t understand how your body shape and coloring can best work for you, then you should get a consultation.
FACE SHAPE Posted by elis Wednesday, 2006-November-01 Is there a perfect hairstyle? It is fun to try the newest or trendiest style, but what really looks the best on you. The best style should bring out your most attractive features while camouflaging the ones you don’t want to bring out. It seems that every magazine emphasizes the seven basic face shapes. Unfortunately, there are very few people who fit these face shapes. Most of us are combinations or variations of these face shapes A new concept has emerged that works better at determining how best to wear your hair to frame your face. I Looking for line length and width in your facial features and curves or straight lines in face are a better indicator of how best to wear your hair around it. Find your strongest feature and play it up. For instance, if you have a long face wearing bangs can give the illusion of more width and less length. If you have a soft curvy chin line adding stronger lines in hair will camouflage and add strength. Conversely if you have a strong jaw line, you can add a round soft shape to the hair. If you would like to know what suits your face shape best, ask for my professional advice the next time you are in.
SUCCESS IS… Posted by elis Saturday, 2005-January-01 SUCCESS IS THIS:
To laugh often and to love much,
To win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of children.
To earn the approbation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of friends,
To appreciate beauty,
To find the best in everything,
To give one’s self,
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition,
To have played and laughed with enthusiasm and to have sung with exaltation,
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
CURRENT TRENDS Posted by elis Saturday, 2005-January-01 Former Spice Girl. Victoria Beckham, is famous in the music industry but is now more famous for her hair. Victoria is making a name for herself in the fashion industry as a fashion designer. She has made quite a splash in our industry when she cut off her long hair into a very sexy short and spiky angled bob. Women of all ages are running to the salon for this updated bob. Victoria's very versatile style is easily changed into several different looks. It is short in back with a soft neckline. Longer sides add to the versatility. Wear them down for face framing or tuck one or both sides for shorter drama. The extensive texture and disconnected layers create the piecy sides and make it easy to change the look from smooth and sleek to full and spiky. This fall everyone seems to be looking for a change. The colors are softer and more natural. The highlights are less obvious but just as fun. The biggest trend now is individuality. Find the look that suits you best and wear it well. That is what is working. Get the cut and color that makes a statement but is also flattering to you. If you are afraid of change, but really want to try something new, just ask for a consultation and we can discover if taking baby steps is more appropriate or if we should just go for it!
